National Merits Announced

nm Maclay School announces Logan Rivers as a National Merit Semi-finalist, placing him in the top 1% of graduating seniors (which is among the top 16,000 of  the 1.6 million students who took the PSAT qualifying test in 11th grade).  Joshua Adams, Daniel Hendon, and Rachel Rumana were also named Commended Students, (top 5% approximately 34,000 students of 1.6 million). Nicholas Fontela was named a National Hispanic Scholar, placing him in the top 2.5% of Hispanic students. This is the third National Hispanic Scholar from Maclay in the past eight years. All of these students are being recognized for the exceptional academic promise demonstrated by their outstanding performance on the qualifying test used for program entry.

“We're very proud of these seniors,” said Maclay Director of College Counseling, Scott Hampton. "They're all exceptional students in all areas of Maclay life."

In the spring, the National Merit Scholarship program will announce the list of finalists who will be eligible for scholarship dollars from the National Merit program as well as corporate and college-sponsored scholarships.  In the last eight years, Maclay has had 28 National Merit Finalists, 37 Commended Students, 3 African-American Scholars, and 2 Hispanic Scholars among its graduating seniors.
